You cannot applaud your own story!

But why not?

Medium does not allow us to applaud our own story. It is frowned upon on social media to like or heart your own post. It is considered self-indulgent.

But I think that’s what we should be allowed to do. To applaud our own story. Because if we cannot applaud our own story, we keep seeking others who would applaud it. And that can soon become vicious.

Isn’t it enough if I ❤ my Instagram post? Isn’t it enough that I loved what I just wrote? I think it is.

So, even though Medium doesn’t allow it, I applaud myself today for writing this, even if no one else does.
